You can’t make this up! ‘Suspiria’ could be the 4th movie to win Oscar for transforming Tilda Swinton

Though it’s Luca Guadagnino ‘s followup to his Best Picture-nominated “ Call Me by Your Name ” from just last year, “ Suspiria ” isn’t what anyone would describe as conventional awards bait. Based on the 1977 classic by Dario Argento , it’s a disturbing supernatural horror film. But regardless of how well it performs in marquee categories it could be a top contender for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for transforming Tilda Swinton . It would actually be the fourth film to win that award for transforming Swinton.

The actress played the White Witch in “ The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ” (2005), which won for its work on her villainous character and for making a faun out of James McAvoy . She also co-starred in “ The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ” (2008), though that film’s Best Makeup win had more to do with turning Brad Pitt into a man aging backwards

Back to Stoneybrook! A Modernized Baby-Sitters Club Show Is in the Works

After over three decades since the begging of the beloved book series, The Baby-Sitters Club is getting a modern-day TV adaptation! The books – which spanned from 1986 to 2000 – focused on a group of girlfriends and babysitters living in Stoneybrook, Ct. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new series will feature all of the original main characters and reportedly tackle topics such as divorce, racism, and inclusivity.

The series is being backed by some industry heavyweights, too. Walden Media , the production company behind The Chronicles of Narnia , and Michael De Luca Productions, which produced Moneyball and many other critically acclaimed movies, are producing the series. Meanwhile, Broad City ‘s Lucia Aniello is currently in talks to direct with Glow and Supergirl ‘s Rachel Shukert potentially showrunning.

‘Chronicles of Narnia’ Original Screenwriters Warn Against Turning Series Into Another ‘Great Big Fantasy Franchise’

‘Chronicles of Narnia’ Original Screenwriters Warn Against Turning Series Into Another ‘Great Big Fantasy Franchise’

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are franchise guys, and happily so. The screenwriters behind six Marvel Cinematic Universe films — including this week’s much-anticipated new release “ Avengers: Infinity War ” and its upcoming untitled 2019 sequel, plus all three “ Captain America ” films — first broke into Hollywood with their “ Chronicles of Narnia ” films, scripting three different franchise entries before the series sputtered out after 2010’s low-earning “ The Voyage of the Dawn Treader .”

While Markus and McFeely are no longer on the “Narnia” beat, the beloved C.S. Lewis series is still in the Hollywood mix, and rumors of a “ Silver Chair ” film adaptation have persisted since October 2013, when the film rights were purchased by the Mark Gordon Company (the original films were made by Walden Media ). Screenwriter David Magee was set to write the screenplay, and director Joe Johnston came on board in April 2017.

In January 2016, producer Mark Gordon told Collider that “Silver Chair

‘Tad The Lost Explorer’ & The Mythological Locations in Film

  • The Hollywood News
Mythical cities and locations have intrigued historians, scientists and humankind for centuries. Did they exist? Where did these stories come from? Well, whether we’ve found any real-life evidence related to these legendary locations, films have explored these in great depth over the years. One such film is Tad the Lost Explorer and the Secret of King Midas; Midas was a revered king in Greek mythology in which he had the power to turn everything he touched to gold. To celebrate the release of the film in cinemas on the 9th February we’ve looked at movies that include some of these widely speculated wondrous locations.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire

“…in a single day and night of misfortune, the island of Atlantis disappeared into the depths of the sea.” Maybe one of the more famous mythical locations in history, Atlantis was first introduced to us by Plato in his Timaeus and Critias works.

'Dragons' Dominate by Default

How to Train Your Dragon continued to do its thing over the weekend, and that was all it needed to return to the top spot. New releases The Back-Up Plan , The Losers and Oceans generated little interest, while Dragon’s photo finish rival from last weekend, Kick-Ass , conked out. Overall business suffered as a result: it was by far the lowest-grossing weekend of 2010 and was down 13 percent from the same timeframe last year when Obsessed grabbed first place. Easing 23 percent to an estimated $15 million, How to Train Your Dragon again saw the smallest dip among nationwide releases, though it was actually steeper than its previous two weekends. Its total climbed to $178 million in 31 days, handily eclipsing Monsters Vs. Aliens through the same point. Dragon and Monsters had pretty much the same Spring release pattern and Monsters had a much bigger start, but Dragon ultimately resonated better with audiences. At its current pace,
